Mutual Fund Supermarket Cross Sell

An Asian credit card company wished to launch a mutual fund supermarket to serve its existing base of cardholders. To support the company’s efforts, CFSC conducted in-depth research on the genesis, development, and profitability metrics of mutual fund supermarkets begun several years ago in the United States. In addition, we investigated best practices in cross selling investment and insurance products to cardholders by interviewing representatives of organizations with remarkable track records in cross sell.

Testing Product Positioning

To provide a foundation for a card issuer’s cross sell campaign, CFSC developed value propositions and customer incentives to test cross sell positions, as well as call scripts based on these positions. More than 150,000 cardholders were then contacted and offered a deposit product. Based on the results of the test, our client rolled out the most successful positioning nationwide.

Cross Selling Retirement Services

A brokerage firm wished to understand how providers of 401(k) plans and stock plan services retain participants and their assets and facilitate cross sell of other retirement and retail accounts. CFSC interviewed competitor employees, consultants, and other industry experts to uncover the best practices of key providers.

Statement Marketing

CFSC conducted a competitive review of four card issuers’ targeting, paper statement marketing, costs and terms, and online statement marketing. We then wrote and designed statement inserts offering brokerage clients additional financial products.
